Behind the name Funkwerk is a medium-sized group with several locations in Germany and Austria.
The Funkwerk Group has emerged as a technological leader in the growing markets of mobility and digital infrastructure.
With tailor-made concepts, Funkwerk controls and rationalises operational processes, primarily for the railway industry and public transport, and also develops and realises mobility concepts for the public domain.

Funkwerk Systems GmbH offers a variety of solutions for modern mobile communication systems. These range from classic analogue radio systems, DMR and GSM-R to modern 4G and 5G solutions. The focus is on operational railway communication. GSM-R technology is the current backbone and offers market-leading solutions with the train radio system MESA26 and the GSM-R mobile device focX2. Proven and certified according to the latest standards, our MESA® radio system forms the basis for communication in railway operations, regardless of the network access technology (analogue/2G/4G/5G). The future viability of the MESA® is also ensured by its modular software which allows flexible adaptations to customer needs. In addition, we offer the CRLT, a 4G-based cab radio that can be installed as an all-in-one device. We covers the area of ETCS applications with the EDOR radio module.

Decoupling the modem ensures the cyber-security of the rail operations and, at the same time, allows the device to be used in public networks outside rail operations. The extreme durability of the device means it is ideal for use in rough environment. Of course, this hand-held device meets all requirements of the EIRENE standard.

It allows individuals to communicate instantly and seamlessly with each other via a mobile device or a specialized radio system.
